Projects
The issues and pull requests for UnitVectorY-Labs repositories are automatically added to the UnitVectorY Labs Project.
This allows for tracking, organization, and management of issues across all repositories.
GitHub Actions
The pattern with GitHub to have a large number of projects track their issues and/or pull requests in a single project must utilize a GitHub Action, actions/add-to-project.
.github/workflows/add-to-project.yml
name: Add all issues and pull requests to project
on:
issues:
types:
- opened
pull_request_target:
types:
- opened
jobs:
add-to-project:
name: Add to project
runs-on: ubuntu-latest
steps:
- uses: actions/add-to-project@v1.0.2
with:
project-url: https://github.com/orgs/UnitVectorY-Labs/projects/41
github-token: $
This uses an organization secret to provide access to update the issues and pull requests to automatically be added to the project. The required permissions are defined as:
- For Fine-grained tokens, you must first select the appropriate owner and associated repositories. Then select Organization permissions -> projects read & write, and Repository permissions -> issues read-only and pull requests read-only.
One important note is that because Dependabot and other external pull requests may be made to the repository, pull_request_target
is used for the GitHub action instead of pull_request
so this Action can run with the appropriate permissions.
